Leawood Gardens simply has the best people you will find

Leawood Gardens simply has the best people you will find caring for its residents. I brought my 83 yr old father with dementia there 7 months ago and he loves it. This place is more like a great apartment where he has friends caring for him... than a "home." My mother in law is in a more expensive assisted living facility only a few miles away and her experience has not been nearly as positive as mine with my father. If you are looking for peace of mind that comes with knowing your loved one is in the perfect place, nobody touches Leawood Gardens.

Highly recommend

We chose Revere Court because of the location and it is a smaller facility with less residents so there is better care. My brother and sister say that his room size is good for his needs, but I have not been inside. They have just been wonderful and we couldn't say anything more. I would and have recommended them.

Revere Court is very caring!

We do think the staff are doing a good job keeping this community clean, and they are very friendly. The one problem we do have would be the bathrooms, they are not easily accessible to visitors and residents who are ambulatory. The care services are really good, they are really well trained. The were even able to give my mother and I a COVID test, so we are now allowed to visit our loved one while still social distancing. They have made a huge effort with starting activities up on the weekends. They had a fun crazy sock day. They are doing a good job keeping them engaged. The whole staff is very cohesive, everybody that is there is somewhat cross trained which is very helpful. They are coping very well during this time.

Look No Further, Revere Court is the Place the to Be

The Revere was great. We couldn't have asked for anything more for our loved one. At first we thought it was high in price. However, after we saw how our loved one was treated and how he loved the community. I have told lots of people that if I had to go somewhere, I want to go there. The Revere treated everyone like family, and treated and my loved one in an amazing way.

Extremely Friendly, No Red Flags

I've not been into the community due to the shutdown. The residents are starting to go back to the dining room for meals. The staff was able to take things to my loved one, and they even sent me photos of my loved one. The community was able to show me several different rooms on the tour. Blackhawk is an older and a smaller community. The community is a single floor. They have different wings with the dining room in the center. I get to choose the placement of the room size for my loved one. They even painted the room for my loved one, prior to moving in. Everyone was very friendly and they help move my loved one's furniture into their room. The aides were extremely friendly. All the staff know all the resident's names. The price is all inclusive for all the care for my loved one. They had an online offer, and we were able to take advantage of the offer. The community helps get my loved one ready for any appointments. They have bingo, crafts, go out to eat (when they can) on a bus, and more for activities. The community had several different departments call me and helped evaluate and assist my loved one when after moving in.

One Big Family

Colonial Oaks is like one big family. The staff sincerely cares for the residents and helps provide a loving environment filled with activities and enrichment, which gives the residents purpose. Colonial Oaks works with the family members of the residents in order to provide the best medical care possible. Also, during Covid-19, they have ensured the safety of all residents. We feel blessed to have found Colonial Oaks for our mom.

Mom's Experience at Colonial Oaks Senior Living

Mom moved into Colonial Oaks Senior Living (Arbor House) in August 2017. She loves the entire experience there and has been so pleased with the care, service and personal touch of the staff. We looked at a few other facilities before settling on Colonial Oaks but Mom felt at home the minute we toured the facility. The past six months have been difficult as we haven't been able to actually visit Mom. She is 91 years old and we miss her very much. With that said we completely agree with, and totally support, Colonial Oaks stance on keeping the facility on lock down. Our Mom's safety and well being is much more important than being there to visit her. Her health must be the priority and the staff and management at Colonial Oaks has seen to that. We couldn't be more pleased with Colonial Oaks.

Highly recommend this loving facility

This is the third community I needed to move my parents into, and it has exceeded all of my expectations. The staff is caring and wonderful – even and especially during the COVID19 pandemic. They truly love and care about the residents, and I haven't encountered any trouble with missing medications, miscommunications around expectations or skipped appointments. The activities, environment and staff all contribute to a loving, bright and cheerful environment in both the assisted living and the memory care spaces. I cannot recommend a facility more highly.

Cared for my parents

The staff at Revere Court did a wonderful job caring for both of my parents. My mother, an Alzheimer's patient, spent a little more than five years there. We had no previous experience with this disease. My wife toured a number of facilities, and said this was the best choice. The staff, procedures and facility are optimized for dementia patients. I found the staff members' patience and care very impressive. They put their hearts into their roles, and all of our family members are thankful.

Friendly, Caring Community

The Village at Alameda is a very friendly community. I am a health care professional and I found their care to be a cut above. The staff and my mother’s fellow residents were very welcoming when she moved there from out of state. With about 75 residents the facility is large enough to offer a variety of activities and social opportunities, yet small enough for staff to get to know the residents well. There are certain caregivers who consistently lead the way to go above and beyond. When you see the passion they bring to their care, it gives a level of comfort to both residents and family. There is a range of different sizes and layouts for the apartments and we moved my mother into a unit that was perfect for her needs. Housekeeping and laundry services are included in these pet-friendly apartments. Public areas and grounds are appealing and well-kept. The inviting dining room with small tables, a large fireplace, salad bar and rotating menus can also accommodate in-room tray delivery. The Village staff coordinated caregiving very well with our hospice team and our family. We were kept informed constantly regarding my mother’s care and condition, which allowed us to be fully involved in her evolving needs. While moving a loved one to assisted living is often stressful for families, the staff and management of the Village eased that process considerably for all of us. We highly recommend The Village at Alameda for when time come when this level of care is needed for a loved one.

Thank you to the Village

My dad and step-mom have lived at the Village for 4 years and we have been blessed to have them cared for in such a great facility. Moved In August

Between the required assessment and actual move-in, my Mom deteriorated. We still moved in and it was the best thing that could have happened. The former facility had me convinced my Mom was about to pass away-2 weeks at Revere Court she was winning at croquet! She has gained weight, is up every day instead of laying in bed. She is more alert and tells me she is very happy. She regained some strength and motivation. Staff is great, food is great. Small, pleasant and friendly. The ED has taken a lot of time with me and I appreciate how easy it is to reach the nurse anytime. Recommend wholeheartedly!

LOVE THIS COMMUNITY

I love this community! Everyone is supportive and able to help. My Mom has "awakened" since she moved here. The Ed is always available and all the staff helps with the residents. The food is overall good. It's important to remember this is a home for someone with Dementia. There are many levels of assistance here-it's vital that a family stay focused on the resident, not themselves. Many of the same staff have been here more than 3 years. The nurse and nurse assistant are always available. A physician actually visits twice a week. There is a foot doctor, dentist and weekly beauty shop.
