Why wait

Recently my 77 year old father moved into Treemont. He absolutely loves it. Before, he was home all day alone at my sister's house. Since he needs help getting around, he did nothing but watch TV all day. Now, he is much more active and has plenty of people to talk too. We all wish he had made this move earlier.

I would have not chosen another place for her. We have looked at other ones and this seemed the best place for her. The staff are their for you and your loved one. If their is ever a problem then they come to me and tell me. Cleanness of the facility is awesome and smells good.

Nice retirement community

I love the fact that it's all inclusive. Prices include rent, utilities, cable, 3 daily meals, and weekly housekeeping. There is a home health agency in the building so if you need medical services, they are available at an additional fee. My dad has been there for a few months. It's really nice compared to others I toured in DFW. Employees are friendly and they keep it clean. My dad seems to like it there. The only issue so far has been the food. The portions are really small and the food is not as good as expected. My dad is a big eater so he is usually still hungry after the meal. Overall it's a nice community.

Overall they seem to be doing a pretty good job.

Overall Treemont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center seems to be doing a pretty good job. The staff is really friendly. I don't live nearby, but so far we haven't had any complaints, or concerns. They seem to be taking very good care of her.

Nice looking place

We toured this community when we were looking into care for a loved one. This was a very nice looking community, but wouldn't have been an appropriate level of care for our loved one. It was a very large community, and not laid out well for someone with memory issues.

My Mother lived at Treemont for several months until she fell. It was the only place I can remember that she has ever been happy. I so wish she had worn her life alert or that they had a pendant system so she would have been found earlier and been able to stay after she fell.

Treemont: Exceeding Expectations

The staff at the Treemont in Dallas, TX have been a joy to work with. From the management to the staff, they have been friendly, helpful, and eager to provide service. They have exceeded our expectations on nearly every level, and made the difficult transition for my mother as easy as possible. From providing in-room meal service free of charge for the first month, to providing a motorized wheelchair until her new one arrived, they have gone above and beyond our service level expectations to meet our needs. They have been adept at walking the thin line between supportive and intrusive with regard to getting my mother integrated into the community, letting her join in at her own pace. If there is one thing I would suggest, it would be a more comprehensive new resident orientation between the staff, resident and family. They did a great job letting us know the services available, but, in some cases, failed to convey how to access them. In every case, when we asked how to get something done, we got immediate and cheerful responses. However, it would have been nice to have assigned seating in the dining room, telephone numbers for various services, a map of the facility, etc. upon move-in. Still, Treemont has been an excellent choice for us. My mother is very happy there, and that is all we can ask.

Working So Far

It's only been 8 weeks. There's never anybody at the front desk when I gone up there. You kind of have to hunt around for them. I don't know who all the staff is actually. The cost is obviously high but I understand why it has to be that way. They do a head count in the dining room and if they don't show up they go and check on them. My mother doesn't seem to be interested in the activities but that's just here. Overall, I like it. It's good and it seem to be working so far. My mother is kind of still settling in.

Great Activities

My mom says the activities are great. They have everything. They have movie night, bible study, church, yoga, arts and crafts, bingo, and I think they have happy hour kinds of things. I think they're already working on it but they're facility is in need of renovation. It's a constant upkeep.

No push or pull string

They are a really good and just a wonderful community. We were really happy with them just needed something they didn't have. They do not have a push button response system, which is something we were requiring. Other then that everything else was great.

We liked it. We'll probably go back with Mom. It's at the high end of what we were looking for, but is available now and includes everything. It would be nice to help her get back on her feet in this type of setting. They mentioned a one-week trial. I like this idea because it lets me know if she would try and participate in the activities first before I pay for a community that has them.

Caring staff

The staff here is very caring and professional. The facility is always kept very clean. They do have some activities for the residents, but they seem repetitive, like they are always the same ones. I don't really participate in them. The food could use improvement. It is not very good and there is not enough!

Deceptive Rent Practices

The only problem I had was the extreme pressure and somewhat deceptive practices. They tell you, "There is a special right now, but you have to rent before February 23, three months free, and put a lot of pressure on you saying this special will end then. But after February 23rd you get a message, we have a special 25% of your annual rent but you must act before March 23rd - exactly the same deal just stated differently. It is dishonest and underhanded, and although I rented it I am not happy with the deal, I took it before February 23rd but since my mom was not moving in until March 14 I did not get a month of free rent as advertised, I had a month with an empty apartment when I could have got the same deal starting on March 14. It really irritates me.

The cook

We were happy with everything here at first. But lately the food has gone down hill. It's either cold, tough or just plain flavorless. Don't know if they changed cooks or if the one they had has just gotten lazy. Our senior's are people and they can tell the difference.
